February 4 7:00pm
Speaker: Cathy Easter and/or Mary Maupai - Safe Harbor
Many of us know Safe Harbor as a local nonprofit that works with survivors of domestic and sexual violence but few know about the work they do with human trafficking. Richmond’s location at the cross between I95 and I64 creates the perfect location for human trafficking. You will learn about the work Safe Harbor does to help victims heal and rebuild their lives after the trauma they have experienced. Cathy Easter, Executive Director and/or Mary Maupai, Development Director, will join us on February 4 to discuss the prevalence of human trafficking in the Richmond area, which, according to The Department of Justice and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, ranks as one of the top 20 jurisdictions for sex trafficking. Cathy and/or Mary will share myths about human trafficking that we all may believe and what the truth really is, and how you can be part of ending this form of modern-day slavery.
